Kelley C Jones

My work does not have any deep meaning or hidden agenda. It comes from my need to laugh and be silly. A fascination for kinetics and automata led me to add moving features whenever possible. Sometimes, for lack of a better description, I refer to my work as three-dimensional comics. Every face is sculpted individually. I don’t use molds because it amuses me to see what expression and personality emerges from the lump of paper clay. Purchases from thrift stores or garage sales (also trash cans…I’m not proud) give me the supplies to start building, and then I finish off with a ridiculous amount of detailed painting. I believe everyone deserves and needs to laugh. If my work results in that reaction, well then, mission accomplished. A bit of silliness in your life is a good thing.
